Overview
The Braun Silk Expert is a state-of-the-art IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) device designed for at-home hair removal. Its standout feature is the patented SensoAdapt™ Technology. The device continuously scans the skin tone (up to 80 times per second) and automatically adapts the light intensity for each flash. This maximizes both safety and effectiveness. It is also one of the fastest devices on the market, significantly reducing treatment time.

In close collaboration with the Braun Design team, we were tasked with designing the Silk Expert IPL from the ground up. Starting with a core technical assembly, we re-engineered the component layout to create a device that excels in user-friendly, safe, and comfortable handling. Since 2014 the overall design has not changed much but was improved over time with new features and design detailes showing that good design is long-lasting.

The primary focus of our design exploration was to develop a form that not only accommodates various grip positions but also integrates flawlessly into Braun's iconic design language.
The final design connects clear, geometric interaction elements with fluid, sculpted surfaces. This design philosophy creates a visually clean aesthetic while making the device highly intuitive to use, ensuring a seamless and confident user experience.
